B5 Icons

I always make icons with the intent that they be shareable, but I don't always remember to say so. Thus, here are all the B5 icons I've made in case anyone wants to use them (most are old, a couple are new). If you're so inclined, my username in the icon comments section of any you use would be lovely.

Icons and musics

I have been listening to this song, "The Wizard of Menlo Park," rather excessively over the past 24 hours. (Link goes to a free mp3 housed at their official site; right-click and save.) It both sounds nifty and has some interesting references in the lyrics, which makes it of win in my book. There's something to be said for a band where almost every song I've heard has me running to Wikipedia to look up a historical or philosphical reference. I am becoming edumacated!

I made six bases/icons from Ratatouille. Take them if you want; mess with them if you want; credit is cool, but hell, these are just screencaps I shrunk down, so don't feel obligated.

I realized the other day that Netflix finally has the season two DVDs of Carnivale available, and I immediately stuck them at the top of my queue. The first one arrived yesterday, and I got two things from it:

1. I'd forgotten how intensely creepy Justin and Iris are, especially around each other. It still blows my mind that John Danziger can be so creepy and evil.
2. This cap, which I thought just had the niftiest composition. It was so nifty that I cropped it and turned it into the icon I'm using for this post.

I also turned it into seven other icons, mostly as an excuse to try out that icon table generator thing I've seen around El-Jay, and to play with the lighting effects filter. They're under the cut. )

First to catch the "armies of bitterness" reference gets a cookie. I know there are at least two people on my flist who've read the source, 'cause we all had to read it together. Although possibly you, like me, have put large portions of it out of your mind...

In other news, yay for Deep Discount, because in a few short days, I shall own seasons one and two of due South for less than $30. Happy birthday to me! Well, it will be towards the end of the month, when I can open them, anyway.

I was listening to Stones of Venice again as I was making these. I'd forgotten how much I like that one. It's so cracktastically fabulous in so many ways; I'd love to see it filmed. (Actually, I'd love to see ANYTHING related to Eight and Charley filmed, because dude, Eight and Charley.) And you can play Spot the Literature Title with it! Well, One Hundred Years of Solitude is mentioned in the fourth part, and of course there's the title, taken from Ruskin's work of the same name. (I say "of course," but really I only realized that this week. Does this mean I have to give up my snobby intellectual card?) Probably there are others, and I just wasn't paying close enough attention.

I still love the ending, where the Doctor tells Charley she's his best friend. Awww. While he's doing the gondolier act, I might add; given the footage from Shada with Four and Romana on the river, I think we can totally draw the conclusion that the Doctor likes to take his girlfriends punting when they're on dates. *cough* *g*

Various Old Skool Who icons, plus a few new series ones. Most are new(ish); some I've been using for a while and have just been too lazy to upload for public consumption. Spoilers through "The Idiot's Lantern."

Comments and credit are appreciated. Dress them up as you please. Brushes from Hybrid-Genesis, caps either my own or from the DWIA.

45 icons, in fact. I decide to be very Victorian this week with the help of lomo, sepia, antique, and "romantic photo" actions in Photoshop. Numbers 1 through 38 are taken from my own photos from last year, 39-42 are from Finding Neverland, and because I can't contemplate the Victorian era without thinking of Rebecca Fogg, the last three are from The Secret Adventures of Jules Verne.

Photos from the Nashville Zoo. Mostly of Meerkats (they'd just had babies...I couldn't reisist), ostriches, and a clouded leopard cub, with fish, zebras, horses, birds, and some other things thrown in.

Also, two quick 'n' dirty icons from this particular photographic foray:

5 Atlantis icons

I had no intention of doing so, but somehow I ended up making icons tonight. Hmm. I haven't done this in a long time, so they aren't spectacular, but I hope you enjoy them anyway.

1. 2. 3. 4. 5.

The last three use lyrics from my current musical obsession, a band called Hem. Go check them out at Amazon, iTunes, or their site. Songs are, in order from 3-5, "Idle (The Rabbit Song)," "Leave Me Here," and "Pacific Street." (I still want to make a Shep/Weir vid to that last one. Probably still a good thing that I don't have any programs with which to do so.)

The regular rules apply: save to your own hard drive, credit in keywords/comments, share and share alike.

Wonderfalls icons!

They're nothing special. My brain is a little too fried for originality at the moment. But...Wonderfalls! Wheee!

Okay, maybe not crashing into a coma just yet.

Making icons was my choice of procrastination tool this go-round, and for some reason, they're Contact (yeah, the movie) icons. Dunno. Lots of shippy ones, 'cause I think was was one of the few people who liked the movie better than the book because of the shippy.

Okay, most of you have probably never heard of it, but for those of you who have, here are eleven Cupid icons. Nothing special, but my Cupid obsession got reawakened by finding that episode in Real Player on the Lisa Loeb site, so I had to do something. Fic may follow sometime soon.

"Many go fishing all their lives without knowing that it is not fish they are after." -- Henry David Thoreau

Found that quote today. Muse is doing cartwheels and other feats of gymnastic prowess to get my attention. Three guesses which two shows (all right, ships, really) I'm wondering how to fic that for. Oy.

Not exactly a GIP, 'cause I'm lazy and don't want to change out any of my icons right now, but:

Mostly random assortment of thirteen icons, connected by either swans or Irish poetry. Oh, wait, except for two. Oops.

Er, yes. All photos from the fine folks at stock.xchng, a brush or two from [info]quebelly and [info]saava. All are shareable; all I ask is that you save them to your own hard drive and credit me in your userpics. Feel free to add text or whatever to any of them, especially the two base-like ones.

Samples:

The first batch is inspired by/uses quotes from "The Wild Swans at Coole," by W. B. Yeats. I was gonna do that cool thing [info]josephides did several months ago, with text having links to icons using the text, but the middle stanzas don't really lend themselves to iconage, so that died a quick death. You can read the whole text of the poem here, though.

Look here )

The other batch quotes various other poems or generally concerns swans, as the case may be.

The rest )

Yes, I realize I need to lay off the English major crack.

Edited 'cause it's three in the morning and I forgot my favorite of this batch...

[info]babylil kindly pointed out a spelling error in one of the icons I posted yesterday. I fixed it and uploaded the revised version, so it should show up in that entry and, for good measure, right here:

So you know how I said I wasn't making any more icons for a while? Um, well, you see... *glances about* I am not addicted to Photoshop. Am not. *hears laughter* Shush!

Most brushes used came from [info]quebelly. Atlantis screencaps are from [info]pellmelody and the Torri Higginson Information Page. All icons are shareable; please credit me in the keywords.

The four Atlantis icons:

Cut because they're from 38 Minutes, but I wouldn't call them spoilery )

And ten ballet icons, 'cause I had a lot of fun with the same image.

Oh, and for any Farscape-Shippers listmembers and Scapers in general who may not have seen this elsewhere, Natalie's done a fabulous job with putting all the various quote lists up at [info]scaper_quotes. God, we're all so wrong. Hilarious, but so, so wrong.
